Destined To Fail

Oh! Sinner of my past, dance for me atop the marble stones
From one to the next, absorbing their history, their lives.
Feel what they could not, see where they were blind
Count the centuries as you resurrect.
Bleed as one with them, with me.
Reach deeper into their empty shells as spirits and souls
parade around you, dancing like flame.
Take all they have ever known
Ease their pain, caress their joy.
Give them what God could never give.
Make them believe.
Messiah of promise, prophet of souls,
Make them see this false afterlife.
Walk them to the other side,
The promised land; not of God's creation, but of my own.

Draped In Sorrow
04:11
|
|||
Sadness swallows this entity, feelings rushing over.
This pain renders me helpless, weak.
Thoughts of tomorrow so distant, to wallow forevermore.
Headlong into depression, submerged unto.
All in vain, this love I gave returns to me as hate, shatters
all I was, shall ever be.
A squandered existence, a soul drained of all.
Devoid of feeling, becoming distant further, release.
Praying for sanctuary beyond this world...
Passed right through to breathe new life as you
walk through the ruins which you have created.
Torture myself no longer with this,
taking none of this away again.
What lies beyond I shall see for all.
My eternal pain diminishes with the light
as my blood spills over.

Snow falls hard on the barren land;
burial ground of my existence.
Walk past the stones of those before me
Tears of anguish as I draw upon.
She lays quiet under my footsteps.
So much separates, now two souls once intertwined.
Taken from this sordid world to share in the glory
of God - she may have believed, but I cannot as I am
left behind in solitude.
Steal the last of myself saved for her, for if this proves to be the
light of the Lord, I choose to live in shadows.
You have caused great pain I can never forgive.
If left for you to choose my destiny, I would never be seen
at the right hand of nothingness.
Together in life and never to part in death.
Wrapped in her arms once again.
Pale skin warms as I give my blood.
I slip into your realm and see as she -
a lifetime of beliefs die when your eyes close forever.

Angelic Redemption
05:06
|
|||
Tormented once again, feeling her beauty engulf me.
Angelic eyes beckoning, skin softer than prose begging
to join, to see all I have dreamed.
To divulge, to cut through this
haze of depressive insanity
Lead me...
Follow your footsteps gliding beyond the past.
Tremble at thoughts of what has become,
what is damned to be.
Promise me... this will all end with a simple pass
of your hand. For I can no longer bear host to this darkness
consuming my humanity.
Restore me... reverse the tears that have spilled.
Cleanse the poison from my tongue, cleanse the
turmoil from my soul. Renew my faith in life, in love,
in whole.
Cherish me... never lose sight of all we could be.
For I have strength only to endure once more,
Then the darkness shall overcome me.

Virtuous Abandonement
05:23
|
|||
My faith was once carved in stone,
etched before my birth.
The body and blood of Christ, my salvation.
Taught to walk in the light of the cross.
Blind faith in an invisible God.
Our Lord's Prayer burned into my mind.
I have bled from the same vein as my father
with the holy trinity cradled in my heart.
Now father you have forsaken me,
taken everything I have held sacred.
I have passed through the door of
your house just to be denied.
Never will I look at the crucifix again
and see a savior, only a martyr who died
for his own sake.
Kings have adored... fools have feared...
I have abandoned... if you could turn stone
into bread I would eat, if you could turn water into wine
I would drink, if you could walk on water I would follow.
But you can't and my faith collapses.
Now I leave you on the cross as you left me.
